    🏋️‍♂️ Jakob Lofton Joins the Difficult-to-Achieve 1000lb Club! 🦁
Congratulations to Concrete High School senior, Jakob Lofton, for earning a place in the difficult-to-achieve Concrete Lions 1000lb Club! This impressive milestone means Jakob lifted a combined total of 1,055 lbs across three major lifts:
    Bench Press: 275 lbs
    Deadlift: 445 lbs
    Squat: 335 lbs
Jakob is the first student to reach this goal since 2019, securing his spot in the Concrete High School record books and carrying on a proud Lions weightlifting tradition.
Even more exciting—he’s now setting his sights on joining the 300lb Bench Press Club before the end of the year.
    Way to go, Jakob! 💪 #LionPride #1000lbClub #ConcreteStrong

    🎉 Track & Field Shoutout – On to Quad-District! 🦁💪
Two Concrete High School freshmen made their mark at the Northwest 1B/2B District 1 Championships in Coupeville on Saturday, May 17!
Coach Jason Miller reports that Kendehl Edwards was on fire 🔥, crushing her personal record (PR) in the discus with a throw of 85' 9” to earn 1st place, and taking 2nd place in the shot with a throw of 27’ 7.5”! She now advances to the Quad-District Championships in Tacoma on May 22. If she places in the top 8, she’ll qualify for the State Championships in Yakima on May 29–31. Congratulations, Kendehl, on an incredible showing and best of luck in Tacoma!
Freshman Tait Bosa also set a new PR in the shot with a strong throw of 32’1.25”, earning 5th place and narrowly missing a chance to advance.
Let’s give a huge round of applause to these outstanding athletes and cheer Kendehl on as she heads to Tacoma! 👏🙌

Concrete High School senior Kaylee Nieshe earned 5th place in the Still Life Photography category of the 2025 Washington State High School Photography Competition. In addition, her entry in the Documentary/Street Photography category received a Purple Ribbon, placing her work in the top 10% of submissions in that category.
This is an impressive accomplishment in one of the state’s most competitive student art contests. Kaylee’s photos were among only 54 selected for recognition out of 4,891 total entries submitted by high school students across Washington.
The competition featured nine categories: Abstract, Animal, Architecture, Documentary, Elements of Design, Landscape, People, Still Life, and Black and White. CHS students submitted entries in eight of the nine categories—all except Black and White, which required access to a darkroom for film processing. Only six entries were selected statewide in each category.
This is a well-earned honor for Kaylee, showcasing her unique perspective and the dedication behind her work.
A big thank you to Mr. Rider for encouraging CHS photography students to explore their creativity and participate in this competitive event. We’re proud of the talent, drive, and artistic expression our students bring to the state stage.
