Dear Parents/Guardians of Concrete School District students:
Messages such as this are so difficult to deliver to our school community. We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Concrete School District Superintendent Wayne Barrett. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family and friends during this very difficult time.
Mr. Barrett has served as Concrete’s superintendent since 2017. He wore many hats while serving our district and his legacy to our community will be honored and remembered.
Death is always a sad and troubling event and can often have a profound effect on our students, staff and community. It is extremely important for children and staff to have an opportunity to talk through their feelings and reactions in an age appropriate manner. We are sharing this information with you so that you may share with your child when and how you feel it most appropriate.
Please know that we are grieving alongside our entire community, but will do our best to help everyone through this grief and have many supports available through the Northwest Education District 189. We strongly encourage you to reach out should you like additional support from the school district, should you wish to receive a list of community resources, or if you have any concerns regarding your child’s reaction to this loss.
I sincerely thank you for your concern and thoughts during this difficult time. Please keep Mr. Barrett’s family and friends in your thoughts.
With sincere appreciation,
Concrete School District Board of Directors, Administrators, and Staff
